An Otago University study has found baby-food pouches don't cause excessive weight gain

An Otago University study has found baby-food pouches don't cause excessive weight gain

Researchers looked at more than 900 infants and toddlers.

Some experts had worried regularly consuming the sweet purees could affect iron levels or raise obesity risk.

Nutritionist Professor Anne-Louise Heath says their research shows the pouches don't affect children's body-mass index.

She says they found babies and young pre-schoolers using them frequently weren't putting on too much weight.
