West Coast motorists are being asked to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary

West Coast motorists are being asked to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary

State Highway 6 between Haast and Ross is expected to be shut for the rest of the weekend, while an earlier closure between Makarora and Haast township has since reopened.

Emergency Management West Coast Controller Kevin Hague, says if people need to travel, they should avoid driving through flooded areas as it can push water into people's properties.
