The Children's Minister says she's relieved two absconding bootcamp teens have been found... but is disappointed by the circumstances

The pair fled during the community phase of the pilot, in the days following a tangi for another participant who died in a car accident in Tirau.

Police found them while responding to an alleged carjacking in Hamilton.

Minister Karen Chhour says Oranga Tamariki can't restrict the young people's movements, or their choices, once they're in the community.

She says there's been success with the pilot - including involvement for the participants in jobs, education and training.
