Maketu Pies has been saved from closure for the second time in five years

The Bay of Plenty business went into liquidation last month - and has since been bought by catering company Montana Group.

Montana's placing the brand into a new joint-venture entity, and licensed back to the production business.

Maketu-Te Puke Ward Councillor Grant Dally says the business avoiding closure again shows it's well established.

He says it must have always had value, not just for Montana Group, but for other organisations that were looking to purchase.
