Delight that changes are on the horizon for early childhood educators

A new review has made 15 recommendations to simplify and modernise regulation, to help better provide safe, high-quality care and education.

The Early Childhood Council says one of those changes is more flexibility around staffing, to help reduce the staffing shortages.

Chief executive Simon Laube says they're recruiting more qualified teachers than ever, but it's not fast enough.

He says they don't want to reduce the focus on qualified teachers at all, but they are looking to bring in people who make that job easier.
