A warning for incoming uni students to be vaccinated against meningococcal disease

A warning for incoming uni students to be vaccinated against meningococcal disease

Those aged 15 to 24 often see the highest number of confirmed cases - with the disease easily transmitted between those living in close contact, and socialising in large groups.

Otago-based nurse Aleisha Telford says meningitis, which can be caused by the disease, is incredibly dangerous.

She says people become very unwell, and can face lifelong injuries or death - so it's important people are vaccinated.
