The 36-year-old man accused of murdering a woman in Auckland's Avondale has been granted interim name suppression

The 36-year-old man accused of murdering a woman in Auckland's Avondale has been granted interim name suppression

Police were called to a home on Holly Street just after 1:30am on Saturday, and discovered the woman's body inside.

No one else is sought in relation to the death.

A Mandarin-speaking interpreter accompanied the defendant in Auckland District Court this afternoon.

The judge granted name suppression so the news of his arrest can be broken slowly to his elderly parents in China.
