Authorities are looking into how three people have escaped custody in Waikato in the past two months

Authorities are looking into how three people have escaped custody in Waikato in the past two months

Police say a 30-year-old man handed himself in this morning, and will appear in court, after escaping custody in Taupo District Court on Monday.

A full review is underway into what happened, but Police say they have no concerns about staffing levels at this stage.

It comes as Corrections confirms one staff member has resigned and another is on their final warning, after two recent escapes at Waikato Hospital.

Corrections says staff are getting extra training on managing prisoner escorts, and may look at changing procedures.
