Rotorua landlords have been forced to pay thousands, after failing to fix a rotting home

Rotorua landlords have been forced to pay thousands, after failing to fix a rotting home

In 2023, an MBIE investigation team found rotting flooring, sagging ceiling panels, and missing roof flashing.

Aquastar Holdings Limited was issued with an improvement notice, but failed to fix anything, so was taken to the Tenancy Tribunal.

The adjudicator, Rex Woodhouse found tenants paying signifcant rent for a cold and draughty property.

He ordered the landlords pay more than six-thousand dollars in damages and carry out extensive repairs.
