David Beckham thinks LA will "come back stronger" after the wildfires

The 49-year-old former footballer - who is married to Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and has Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 22, Cruz, 19, and 13-year-old Harper with her - used to live in the US with his family and sent his love to all those affected by the current situation, as he confirmed that his eldest and his wife Nicola are safe.

Speaking on 'The Today Show', he said: "Thankfully [Brooklyn] is safe, and his wife is safe. But it's devastating, we have a big heart that is still in Los Angeles and obviously, to see everything that's going on there, we just send our love and thoughts to everyone who is affected by what's going on.

"I've always said that America is the land of opportunity, and LA has incredible opportunities and the spirit that they have there, they'll come back stronger but it's gonna take time.

"We send our love and thoughts to everyone affected by this devastating situation."

Meanwhile, the former Manchester United player starred in the Netflix documentary 'Beckham' and his wife is set to chart her journey from an aspiring musical theatre actress to a member of the world's best-selling girl band and now a fashion designer for the streaming service but admitted "wasn't easy" to get her to agree to it.

He said: "It wasn't the easiest thing to get her to agree to, but in my opinion, she was the star of mine so I thought this was he the opportunity. She's been working on her brand for the last 18 years and she's unbelievably hard working. No one gets to see that. I convinced her actually let people see what she does every day and what goes into her business.

"She's a very clever and hard-working lady, and I want people to see that."
