Chiefs coach Clayton McMillan is in favour of the compromise reached on Shaun Stevenson's playing sabbatical in Japan

Chiefs coach Clayton McMillan is in favour of the compromise reached on Shaun Stevenson's playing sabbatical in Japan

The fullback had wanted out of the last year of his New Zealand Rugby contract but will instead miss only the first three weeks of Super Rugby to play for the Kubota Spears.

McMillan says it's a sensible decision that meets everyone's needs.

Meanwhile loose forward Wallace Sititi will undergo surgery on a knee injury picked up on the end of year tour, with his recovery timeline yet to be confirmed.
