The retail sector wants to see the Government take action to promote economic growth

The retail sector wants to see the Government take action to promote economic growth

New electronic card transaction data for December last year, shows that total retail sales were down one-percent compared to the same time in 2023.

Total sales in 2024 were down more than two-percent on the year prior.

Retail NZ chief executive Carolyn Young says they're hoping to hear from the Government in the coming weeks about how it plans to grow the economy.

She says it could be around immigration settings as we need more people to help us grow.
