Police are being commended for arresting a man - after a van delivering cash to an ATM was robbed in Auckland's Birkenhead

Police are being commended for arresting a man - after a van delivering cash to an ATM was robbed in Auckland's Birkenhead

Police searched a Northcote address overnight - arresting a 43-year-old man who'll appear in the North Shore District Court today.

His charges include Tuesday's aggravated robbery and commission of a crime with a firearm.

Northcote Labour List MP Shanan Halbert says the community will be pleased by the news.

He says it's important an increased Police presence is resourced to remain until things settle down locally, as people are still feeling unsettled.
