Police are praising roadworkers who stopped a woman allegedly driving while more than three times over the alcohol limit - with a baby onboard

Police are praising roadworkers who stopped a woman allegedly driving while more than three times over the alcohol limit - with a baby onboard

Senior Sergeant Wayne Hunter says the woman was spotted driving the wrong way through road works in the Bay of Plenty yesterday, on State Highway 29.

He says workers kept her stationary until police arrived.

Hunter says the woman wasn't in a state to properly drive or care for the baby.

Police have contacted Oranga Tamariki and remanded the 37-year-old woman to appear in Tauranga District Court at a later date.
