Bream Bay will host a flotilla today - protesting a proposal to dredge around eight-point-five million cubic metres of sand over 35 years

Bream Bay will host a flotilla today - protesting a proposal to dredge around eight-point-five million cubic metres of sand over 35 years

Over 50 watercraft - including kayaks and catamarans will take to the waters from Whangarei Heads to Langs Beach as part of the flotilla protest.

Some residents and environmental advocates say the sand extraction will cause irreversible damage to the seafloor and marine populations.
