Another blow for Penrith three rounds into the NRL league title defence

Play-making captain Nathan Cleary was forced from the field with concussion in the eighth minute of a 30-24 defeat to Melbourne.

The Panthers were already without fullback Dylan Edwards due to a groin strain.

Coach Ivan Cleary's offered an update on his son.

Penrith sit 11th on the ladder with one win from three - Melbourne move to provisional first on six points.
