A gastro bug outbreak in the Wellington region has been linked to a brand-new Hutt Valley pool

A gastro bug outbreak in the Wellington region has been linked to a brand-new Hutt Valley pool

There are at least 32 cases of cryptosporidiosis in Wellington -- a majority in the Hutt.

The bug can cause diarrhoea and vomiting -- and can spread in shared water.

Health NZ's contacted the local council, stating some of the cases appear to be linked to Te Ngaengae toddlers pool and the Huia Hydrotherapy pool.

The council says it took immediate action, closing the pools and going through a treatment process.

Te Ngaengae pool opened in December, with a 68 million dollar price tag.
