An education union's pleading the Government to scrap proposed changes to early childhood education

An education union's pleading the Government to scrap proposed changes to early childhood education

The Ministry of Regulation has proposed cutting requirements on teacher qualifications, children's safety and a curriculum honouring Te Tiriti O Waitangi.

More than 10-thousand people have signed an opposing petition - handed to Labour and Green Party spokespeople this morning.

ECE centre manager and NZEI representative, Megan White, says the changes won't improve the quality of education or put children's best interests first.

She says improving conditions for children and teachers should be the focus.
