The Christchuch eye surgeon who tried killing his landlord in 2022 will be released from prison next month

Ian Dallison's been granted parole - in a second appearance before the board yesterday.

The 66-year-old had been denied early release in November last year - due to extreme violence in a stressful situation.

Dallison had pleaded guilty in 2023 to attempted murder and intent to commit grievous bodily harm - and had faced a six year and 10 month jail-time.

He's previously said he's in a relationship with District Court Judge Jane Farish.
