A Christchurch man found guilty in 2022 of murdering his three-month old daughter - has appeared before the Court of Appeal

Michael John Topp was also found guilty of causing his baby grievous bodily harm with intent.

Topp's lawyer argues the trial should've been aborted after inappropriate evidence from a Crown expert witness, tainted the jury.

He says Topp admits killing his daughter - but her mother had more opportunities to harm the child before the fatal assault.

The judges have reserved their decision.
