New Zealand motorists are being urged to take data ranking countries speeds, with a grain of salt

New Zealand motorists are being urged to take data ranking countries speeds, with a grain of salt

A global study from car insurance expert MoneySuperMarket this week reveals the US has the highest speed for long distance at nearly 110 kilometres per hour.

New Zealand's average is 62.1 kilometres per hour - ranking us at 101.

AA Road Safety spokesperson Dylan Thomsen says it can't be seen as a real world comparison.

He says they'd have to do more work on the roads, actually measuring speeds.
