The High Court has heard the heartbreaking family statements, of how a Christchurch killer destroyed their lives

Justice Lisa Preston sentenced Tingjun Cao to life in prison, with a minimum non-parole period of 17 years six months.

He murdered real estate agent Yanfei Bao in Christchurch in 2023.

Preston heard victim impact statements from Bao's family, including her father, sister, and husband.

Bao's daughter's statement was read by a victim support advocate.

She says she tries to be brave because she doesn't want to make her family more sad, than they already are.
