Michael Jackson's daughter Paris Jackson has defended her decision to book a gig on the anniversary of her father's death

The King of Pop passed away on June 25 2009 at the age of 50 after suffering a drug overdose and Paris, 27, is due to be performing at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee on that date later this month on what will be the 16th anniversary of the tragedy - but she's adamant she does not have control of her booking schedule because she's not a headline artist

In a video posted on Instagram, she explained: "So, people are mad again. One of the tour dates I'm supposed to be going out on tour with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra happens to be June 25, which is a very negative anniversary for me in my life and my family.

"So, what I guess I have to explain to these people is that when you're first of three, and you're not headlining these shows, you don't pick what date you perform or what time you go on stage to perform, or what city you perform in."

Paris added the decision was made by the "big boss" headliner and went on to say: "First of three also doesn't get a tour bus. You get maybe a sprinter van, which I've done before when I've got a band with me. But I'm not going to have my band with me this time.

"It's just me and my acoustic guitar and my sound guy, who happens to be my fiancé [musician Justin Long]. So we're gonna be in a soccer mom van."

She added of the anniversary scheduling: "Also, why the f*** would I make a big fuss about it? ...

"This feels like [Incubus is] doing me a favor by bringing me out on tour. So [what], I'm gonna tell 'em: 'Sorry, guys, we can't perform on this date?''"

It comes after Paris recently announced her engagement to musician Justin Long and admitted she's actually "terrified" of getting married.

She told 'Entertainment Tonight': "It's terrifying, it's terrifying! I don't know, it's a big leap. It's exciting and it's thrilling and it's a big step and I know that I'm making the right choice, which is a good feeling."

The singer added that she is in the process of planning her nuptials and is looking at venues and a dress but cannot say much about it right now.

She said: "I just picked a wedding planner, he's super nice. He's absolutely wonderful, we're working on venues and dresses. I can't say [much about the dress]."
