A Christchurch serial rapist will challenge his 30 rape and sexual violation convictions, and prison term - in the Court of Appeal

John Hope Muchirahondo was found guilty last year on 21 charges of rape, nine of sexual violation, and failing to assist police.

The convictions relate to 15 women in Christchurch and Auckland - between 2009 and 2021.

He denied all charges - but was sentenced to 23 years in prison in March.

The Court of Appeal's confirmed Muchirahondo has filed an appeal - with no hearing date yet set.
