    The swimming world is in shock at the retirement of Australian Ariarne Titmus at the ripe young age of 25


    The four-time Olympic gold medalist was taking a year off, but has now made the absence permanent.

    Titmus still holds the world record in the 200 metres freestyle and bows out with 33 international medals - eight from the Olympics, eight in the Commonwealth Games and nine snared at World Champs.
