A person's died and two others have been injured after a boat capsized in Port Waikato this morning

Emergency services were called around 7.15, pulling three people from the water north of Sunset beach.

St John says it was called to a water-related incident at Lake Puketi, sending in three helicopters, and an ambulance.

Two patients were lifted to Auckland City and Waikato Hospitals in critical conditions.

Police have confirmed one has since died, while the other remains in a serious but stable condition.

The other was airlifted to Middlemore Hospital, and remains in a moderate condition.
