A teen cricketer has died in Australia, struck in the head and neck warming up for a match

17-year-old Ben Austin was hit in the nets at his club in Melbourne's Ferntree Gully on Tuesday.

Media report he wasn't facing a bowler, but rather throw-downs from a dog ball launcher, in a warm up exercise.

It's 11 years since Australian Test cricketer Phillip Hughes was killed when hit in the neck by a ball during a Sheffield Shield game at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
