Jennifer Lawrence is glad "skinny jeans are dead"

The 35-year-old Hunger Games star has opened up about her love of fashion in a new interview and insisted she's pleased she no longer has to wear tight denim any more.

She told Harper's Bazaar: "Skinny jeans are dead, which I'm happy about. I don't want somebody to be able to tell with absolute clarity the difference of size between my thigh and my ankle."

Jennifer went on to reveal she gets most of her fashion inspiration from other women on the streets of New York and she's pleased to adopt some of the trends she sees when she's out and about - especially since many of the styles seem to be channelling looks from the early 2000s.

She explained: "I notice silhouettes either online or in the streets ... and living in New York is really inspirational ...

"I started seeing the layers coming back, which is just fun when you're old enough to remember the trends in the early 2000s, with the tank hanging below the shirt."

Jennifer is the face of Longines watches and she explained she's loving wearing a time piece these days, saying: "I only recently started wearing watches as jewelry, and I think that it's a really beautiful piece of jewelry.

"It's a statement. And it's permanent. It's not a trend. It's nice to have something so practical that's also beautiful ...

"I'm in a phase where I'm wearing more permanent jewelry, as opposed to changing it. So I have an ear cuff that I've been wearing every day, and I have anklets that I wear every day."

It comes after Jennifer - who is mother to two children - revealed she is now embracing "understated elegance" as she likes her looks to come across as "effortless and simple" and she often feels most stylish when she gets ready in a rush.

She told Grazia magazine: "[Elegance to me] is effortless and simple. I prefer understated elegance ...

"I feel most elegant when I can get ready quickly ... Time is so precious. I like to appreciate every moment and be present because time moves so quickly."
