Police have issued dozens of infringement notices following a 200-strong car meet in Lower Hutt's Queensgate last night

Police have issued dozens of infringement notices following a 200-strong car meet in Lower Hutt's Queensgate last night

They say the group eventually dwindled to 50 - and made several attempts to set up in locations throughout Wellington and Hutt Valley.

Acting Inspector Gareth Barnes says their officers were one step ahead every time and the night went off without a hitch.

He says notices were issued for speeding and license breaches, about 10 pink and green stickers were given out, and one car was seized.

Police say fireworks that were being shot from a sunroof were also surrendered.
