Pete Davidson is on track to don a T-shirt without any tattoos being visible "by the end of this year"

The former Saturday Night Live star has removed the inkings from his hands and neck, and now his arms are nearly done - however, Pete will keep the tattoos that are tributes to his mom Amy and late dad Scott.

Pete - who began the 10-year process of getting rid of over 200 individual tattoos in 2020 and has forked out more than $200,000 to have them erased - told People: "I'm almost done with my arms now. I did my hands and neck first.

"I did it in the order of what is most visible. My goal is to be able to wear a T-shirt and not see anything there by the end of this year.

"I would say there's like 65, 70 per cent of the tattoos left, and some of them are faded or whatever."

He then quipped: "It has been a hot topic."

The 31-year-old comic - who decided to get his tattoos removed as a fresh start after overcoming addiction - expects it will take a long time for him to be free of body art.

Pete explained: "It takes years to get rid of a tattoo. You've got to burn it off, and it takes 10 to 12 sessions per tattoo.

"So I have to cram that in between work, and you then need six weeks to heal. Anytime I get one session done, I can't do anything. So it's going to be, like, until I'm 40 when I'm a clean slate."

Some of Pete's tattoos that are getting removed are those that honour his past girlfriends, and others are lighthearted designs.

However, he plans to keep ones inspired by The Sopranos, as well as two poignant designs he had for his mom and late dad Scott, a firefighter who died during the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York.

He told Entertainment Tonight: "I got all these tattoos, so my mom was like, 'How come you've never gotten a "Mom" tattoo? Now I have a tattoo that just says 'MOMTATTOO.' That one has to stay...

"I have my dad's ID [number], and that's pretty much it."
