Bruce Almighty actress Sally Kirkland has entered hospice care as she battles dementia

The 84-year-old Hollywood legend is receiving care in Palm Springs, California, after being diagnosed with the degenerative condition - which causes a decline in thinking, memory, and reasoning skills - in 2024, her representative Michael Greene told TMZ.

Sally has struggled with "two separate life-threatening conditions", according to a GoFundMe page set up by her pals to raise money for "urgent medical care" needs.

The crowdfunding page for Sally also mentioned that the Golden Globe Award winner has "fractured her four bones in her neck, right wrist, and her left hip" this past year.

However, she is now "resting comfortable" at the hospice.

Michael is travelling from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, to see Sally, and he said she "will not go until I'm holding her hand".

The Anna star has her close friend, actor Coty Galloway, by her side.

Sally's friends Coty, screenwriter Paige Dylan and actor Mel England set up the GoFundMe page to help support Sally's urgent care expenses.

So far, over $58,000 has been raised of a $65,000 target.

Their statement on the site read: "As a result, today, she finds herself facing a significant health crisis - one that has not only affected her well-being but also requires urgent and quality medical care that she can no longer afford."

It added: "This past year, Sally fractured her four bones in her neck, right wrist, and her left hip.

"While recovering, she developed two separate life-threatening infections.

"The combination of these injuries and infections have required extensive hospitalisations and rehab beyond the 100 days insurance will cover.

"As the days pass, lack of proper care greatly diminishes Sally's chance of a full recovery.

"However, with the right medical support, we know she has a strong chance of overcoming this setback and returning to the work she loves."

They went on to encourage people to donate to help Sally, adding: "We are humbly asking for your support, in any amount you can offer, to ensure she gets the treatment she needs at this crucial time in her health journey.

"Every donation, no matter the size, will help bring her one step closer to recovery and, we hope, back to doing what she loves most-acting."
