Police have revealed an 11-year-old was one of two who drowned off Whangarei's coast 11 days ago

Police have revealed an 11-year-old was one of two who drowned off Whangarei's coast 11 days ago

The pair from Auckland didn't return to Pataua South from a boating trip on November 14.

A member of the public found 11-year-old Jason Wharerau's body in the water.

The search continues for his 23-year-old brother-in-law, Ethan Neels.

Police have provided a statement from Jason's whanau saying his passing leaves a gap in their whakapapa that will be felt for generations.
