Ariana Grande is delighted about her ex-partner Pete Davidson preparing to become a dad

The Wicked: For Good actress and the former Saturday Night Live cast member embarked on a whirlwind romance in 2018, and the comic popped the question to the singer just weeks after they got together in May that year. However, they broke up four months later.

In March this year, Pete and 29-year-old model Elsie Hewitt went Instagram official and shared in July that they are set to welcome their first child together in the winter.

Reacting to their baby announcement, Ariana - who has been in a relationship with 33-year-old actor Ethan Slater since July 2023 - told the new issue of Heat magazine: "It's lovely news. I was, of course, happy when I heard."

An insider recently claimed that Ariana, 32, thinks Pete will be a "great dad".

In July, the source told MailOnline: "[Ariana] doesn't know Elsie, she believes that Pete becoming a father is the exact thing that he needs in his life and that he will be a great dad.

"Everyone knows Pete's father [Scott] passed away in 9/11, and Pete will find it important to provide the best childhood possible for his child."

The insider also claimed that Ariana is "hoping for the same good fortune to come her way someday in the future".

It comes amid speculation surrounding the state of Ethan and Ariana's relationship, because they have not always been spotted together.

Ethan divorced from his wife, clinical psychologist Lilly Jay - with whom he has a two-year-old son - after the star and the singer struck up a romance while making the film of the Broadway musical in 2024, after six years of marriage.

He and Ariana - who are conscious of the rumour mill about their relationship - are still together, but relish being "low-key".

A source - who claimed the pair enjoyed time together at the Wicked: For Good London premiere on November 10 - recently told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: "Ariana and Ethan are still a couple, but they've seen the chatter online and it's not been easy.

"They were both at the ¬Leicester Square premiere and the ¬after-party at Brasserie Zedel but made sure they weren't seen together."

Ariana and Ethan do not want their romance to play out in public.

The insider continued: "Obviously, it fuels the ¬speculation around them but they don't want their relationship to play out in public.

"When Ariana left the after-party, she went back to her hotel suite.

"Not long after, Ethan was taken there and went up to see Ariana to spend time with her.

"They are aware of what is being said, and it's not easy for them, but they're doing the best they can to snatch some quiet moments when no one is watching."

And the pair planned to spend "some time together out of the public eye" after they finished promoting Wicked: For Good - which was released on Friday (21.11.25)

The insider added: "Once this next round of promo is completed for Wicked: For Good, Ariana and Ethan will be spending some time together out of the public eye.

"They've always preferred to be low-key and are happier just chilling at home together.

"No one is saying the past few months have been totally rosy, but their relationship is still very much on."
