A man's been arrested after a gun shot was allegedly let off yesterday, near a popular Thames swimming hole

Police were called to Kaua-eranga Valley Road about 5pm, following reports a man had threatened members of the public and shot into the air.

He then allegedly left the weapon in vegetation before leaving in a vehicle with another person.

The pair were tracked down and arrested shortly after, and the firearm was recovered.

A 20-year-old man will appear in court tomorrow, charged with unlawfully possessing a firearm, and discharging a firearm to intimidate.
