    Luca Harrington has backed up his strong start to the new Big Air World Cup season


    The 21-year-old from Wanaka has finished second at the latest event in Beijing - following his bronze medal at last weekend's season-opening event, also held in China.

    The result means Harrington - the reigning world champion and an X-Games gold medalist - leads the standings heading to round three.

    Meanwhile - compatriot Luke Harrold has claimed second at the inaugural Freeski Snow League event in China.

    Founded by snowboarding legend Shaun White - the new freeski and snowboard league which sees athletes going head-to-head in best-of-three knockout rounds.

    The youngest athlete in the field, 17-year-old Harrold progressed all the way to the final before going down 2-1 to Canadian former World Champion and X-Games medallist Brendan Mackay.
