One hiker's died, and another's been rescued from a track on the South Island's West Coast

One hiker's died, and another's been rescued from a track on the South Island's West Coast

Police were notified around 6:30pm on Friday, of a personal locator beacon being activated near the Klondyke Rahu saddle.

Search and Rescue located a tramper, and a deceased person.

The body was recovered once weather conditions allowed a helicopter flight on Saturday, and the matter's been referred to the Coroner.
