A realistic reflection of the modern cricket calendar for Black Caps coach Rob Walter as he deals with a raft of injuries

A realistic reflection of the modern cricket calendar for Black Caps coach Rob Walter as he deals with a raft of injuries

Matt Henry, Nathan Smith and Mitchell Santner are all out for the rest of the West Indies test series through injury.

Canterbury quick Michael Rae and Northern Districts all-rounder Kristian Clarke have been called in, while Glenn Phillips returns from injury and Mitch Hay joins as keeper cover for Tom Blundell.

Coach Rob Walter says the need for a bigger selection pool is the new norm.

The second test starts tomorrow in Wellington.
