Francesca Scorsese "obviously" landed a high-profile directing job because of her famous father, Martin Scorsese

The 26-year-old actress-and-filmmaker took the helm in the final episode of Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints - a Fox Nation docuseries which is ex ecutive-produced and narrated by the Taxi Driver director - and while she was "honoured" to be involved in the project, she is also open about the fact the opportunity only came her way because of her family connection.

Speaking to Variety, Francesca - whose episode of the show looks at Carlo Acutis, the so-called Millennial Saint, who died from leukaemia in 2006 aged 15 and was canonised in 2015 - said: "I got this, obviously, because my dad was overseeing everything as the executive producer.
"I'm not going to deny anything. I'm honoured to be given an opportunity like this, and I'm going to do my best."
Francesca had "some hesitation" about working on a project for Fox Nation, the streaming arm of the political news network, because of the broadcaster's notorious right-wing views but was happy to follow Martin's lead.
She said: "I know how my dad feels with everything... I feel pretty much the same way as he does in terms of politics and everything, and I look up to him, and I really follow in his footsteps a lot of the time. But Fox was the only one that supported this project and that wanted to bring this project to life. I think there's something to say about that."
While filming her Saints episode, Francesca sent dailies to her father, but Martin didn't offer any feedback until later.
She said: “I would get a call or a text, and he’d be like, ‘These rushes look great.'
“I was never really given any notes until I was in post-production. I mean, everything he said was completely valid.”
The Scorseses will be together for Christmas Eve (24.12.25), where they will "have dinner and open gifts" at home, while they will be at Martin's office for New Year's Eve (31.12.25).
Francesca said: “We’ll watch a movie and then watch the fireworks on TV. We have some champagne, maybe cater some Nobu.”
