    Leonardo DiCaprio tries to "disappear" for long stretches of time

    The 51-year-old actor has explained it's been a struggle to maintain his privacy after spending his entire adult life in the movie industry but he's revealed he tries to step out of the spotlight as much as he can when he's between projects .


    He told Time magazine: "It’s been a balance I’ve been managing my whole adult life “and still I’m not an expert.
    "I think my simple philosophy is only get out there and do something when you have something to say, or you have something to show for it.
    "Otherwise, just disappear as much as you possibly can."
    He went on to explain his disappearing act has also helped him carve out a lengthy career in Hollywood.
    Leonardo added: "I was like: 'OK, how do I have a long career?' Because I love what I do, and I feel like the best way to have a long career is to get out of people’s face."
    It comes after the Titanic actor admitted celebrating his 50th birthday back in November 2024 prompted a huge change in his attitude towards life.
    Speaking to Esquire UK, the movie star explained: "It [turning 50] creates a feeling like you have a desire to just be more honest and not waste your time.
    "I can only imagine how the next few decades are going to progress. I look at my mother, for example, and she just says exactly what she thinks and wastes no time. She spends no time trying to fake it."
    He is now determined to not waste any time moving forwards but acknowledges that he risks "having things fall apart" because of his honest approach.
    He said: "Being more upfront and risking having things fall apart or risking the disagreements or risking going your separate ways from any type of relationship in life - the personal, the professional - it’s that you don’t want to waste your time any more. You have to just be much more upfront. It’s almost a responsibility, because much more of your life is behind you than it is ahead of you."
