A Christchurch mother killed by a spurned lover with a disturbing, violent past, can now be named

Chantal McDonald was stabbed to death at her home in Parklands in July.

Nathan Boulter admits stabbing her more than 50 times in a frenzied attack, in front of her children.

36-year-old Boulter has a long history of violence against women, including a high-profile kidnapping and assault of his ex partner on Great Barrier Island in 2011.

Justice Jonathan Eaton has lifted name suppression of the victim, and set a February sentencing date for Boulter .
