Barnardos is calling on Kiwis to help vulnerable children in need this Christmas

Barnardos is calling on Kiwis to help vulnerable children in need this Christmas

The children's charity says people can be left without their usual support networks during the holidays, as services and schools close.

Chief Executive Officer, Matt Reid, says family gatherings can reignite tensions, while increased alcohol use, overcrowding or isolation can compound the stress.

He says the impact for children caught in the middle can be profound, and he's encouraging everyone to reach out to those who are struggling.

Reid says we can all play a part to support these children and their families.
