A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to five years and four months jail for threatening a mass stabbing attack, distributing objectionable material and indecent communications

The Hastings man previously pleaded guilty to 13 charges at the Napier District Court.
A search of his home in August revealed 2300 images of sexual abuse and exploitation - including some solicited from a child under 16.
About a month later, the FBI alerted Internal Affairs he had plans to commit a mass stabbing on his court date.
He will be registered as child sex offender, and his devices destroyed.
