No further Queensland fruit flies have been discovered in Auckland's Mt Roskill, following the detection of a single male of the species last week

No further Queensland fruit flies have been discovered in Auckland's Mt Roskill, following the detection of a single male of the species last week

A specialist team - working in a mobile laboratory in the suburb - have sliced and examined nearly 55 kilograms of fruit.

They're yet to find any indication of an established breeding population.

Horticulture New Zealand Chief Executive Kate Scott says while the arrival of any pest is concerning, it's good officials were able to detect it.

She says they have a robust surveillance monitoring programme, and this fly was found in one those routine monitoring traps, which shows the system's working.
