Anya Taylor-Joy "loved" having a mullet

The 29-year-old actress changed her look for an upcoming movie and while she "didn't think it would work" for her to have a short fringe and her hair long at the back, she was delighted with the style.

She told Britain's Elle magazine: "I enjoyed my 'baby bang mullet' phase. I've just played two characters in films that haven't come out yet who had baby bangs. I didn't think that it would work, but it kind of does.

"In one of them, I have a bit of a mullet, which I never thought I would have in my life. But I loved my mullet. She was a thing."

The Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga actress uses perfume to help her getting into character and even now views scent as a way of making a "time capsule" to preserve her experience.

She said: "What I am loyal to is wearing perfume every single day. It's almost like a personal prayer to yourself. Dior Addict Peachy Glow Eau de Parfum reminds me of my childhood in Argentina and puts me back to a special time; my mum has a real love for jasmine, so it was all over our house.

"I found there was a real shift for me when I started seeing fragrance as a way into character.

"It became a lovely way of creating a time capsule for myself. And I often miss my characters - I've gotten better the more I've done it, but especially at the beginning of my career, it did feel like a pretty intense severance. So, it's nice to have something that can transport me back to myself."

However, Anya admitted there is one particular scent she will never go back to because she doesn't want to revisit a "toxic" character she played.

She said: "There is a character I created a scent for, but I have never reached for it again.

"I was playing a psychopath, and I didn't realise how toxic she was while I was playing her. I spent most of the movie defending her actions, then as soon as it was over, I was like, 'Get it off!' It was a very visceral reaction.

"I made her perfume out of honey and vodka, so now, even if I smell something that's terribly honeyed, I have to step away from it.

"I didn't keep anything from that character."
