Chris Pratt has admitted he won't keep the giant painting of his father-in-law Arnold Schwarzenegger on the wall all year round

The Guardians of the Galaxy actor, who is married to the Terminator star's daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger, recently revealed the action legend had presented them with some personal festive artwork as a Christmas gift, and while he thinks the portrait is "beautiful", he thinks it is only appropriate to have it on display during the holiday season.

Asked about the painting, he told Extra: "It's beautiful.

"We hung it on the wall right next to the Christmas tree... It's him dressed as Santa. So, I don't think that's going to have a place in our hall in June, but come November, I think that'll be the first thing we pull out."

Chris - who has 13-year-old Jack with ex-wife Anna Faris, and Lyla, five, and Eloise, three, and Ford, 14 months with Katherine - can next be seen in Mercy, in which he plays a detective who faces an AI judge when on trial over the murder of his wife and he revealed he paid tribute to classic action movie Die Hard in his scenes.

He said: "My character has no shoes on, and you know of course in 'Die Hard' he that was something he didn't have any shoes on and so that was something I said I should have no shoes on because I don't want to give any spoilers but you know if there was ever a moment I was out of the chair I wanted to have to run barefoot."

The 46-year-old actor found a useful benefit in going barefoot after injuring his ankle just days into filming.

He said: "I kind of almost broke my ankle during a stunt sequence in the first week and so it was really nice not to have to wear a shoe on my foot because my ankle was absolutely destroyed."

Chris revealed Arnold's unusual gift just before Christmas.

Appearing on The Graham Norton Show, he said: "Arnie's love language is going all out with his gifts. One of ours was a six by eight-foot portrait painting of our three children and him dressed as Santa Claus. It's the most beautiful portrait you've ever seen. It's very lifelike and it's very big. It was really thoughtful, but we're not sure what we are meant to do with it for the rest of year!"
