Sherri Shepherd has been "completely overwhelmed" by the show of support after her TV show was axed

The 58-year-old actress has taken to social media to thank fans and followers for their support, after her daytime talk show, Sherri, was axed.

The TV star wrote on Instagram: "Wow! I am completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for me and The @sherrishowtv . You might've noticed that yesterday and today I was struggling because I wasn't feeling up to speed. Well it turns out I have Covid. As soon as I feel better and return to the show, I will address all of the news that has come out. Until then, I am truly grateful that SHERRI has made such an impact on you! See ya soon [heart emoji] #sherrishepherd #sherrishowtv #grateful #itsnotover (sic)"

The comedian first fronted Sherri in September 2022, but Lionsgate's Debmar-Mercury recently confirmed the series has been canned, partly due to the "evolving daytime television landscape".

In a statement given to People, Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said: "This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production - which has found strong creative momentum this season - or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd."

However, that may not be the end for the series, because the TV syndication company are "exploring alternative" platforms for the show.

Bernstein and Marcus added: "We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms."

Sherri is currently on her Make it Make Sense comedy tour, and she took to social media this week to thank her fans for watching her on the road.

She said in an Instagram video: "I'm so thankful that I get to do what I love, which is making people laugh, so thank you guys for letting me make you laugh.

"I'm tired, it's brutal being on the road. It's not like when I was 20."
