    Police say it could take some time to formally identify a body, washed up on Mahia's Mahanga Beach, near Wairoa


    The body was discovered by a member of the public about 1pm on Saturday.

    A post-mortem is being carried out this week.

    But Police say due to the circumstances, the identification process could take some time.

    It says more information will be provided, when possible.
