Bay of Plenty's being flagged as a potential hot spot for cocaine use, with the drug more than twice as likely to show up in work place testing

Bay of Plenty's being flagged as a potential hot spot for cocaine use, with the drug more than twice as likely to show up in work place testing

The Drug Detection Agency's results for the three months to December, show the white powder was present in nearly four percent of positive tests.

In Bay of Plenty, cocaine showed up in nearly nine percent of tests.

Chief Executive Glenn Dobson says Tauranga in particular is an area of interest for cocaine.

He says authorities have had several large drug busts there at the port, indicating it could be part of a major supply chain.
