    Strong wind advisory for Hauraki Gulf and Bream Head to Cape Colville

    Situation:
    A broad, complex low and associated fronts cover much of the country today. On Saturday, the low is expected to drift west, and deepen off the West Coast of the South Island. A broad low pressure system remains slow-moving to the west of Aotearoa New Zealand through to Tuesday, and directs several troughs across the country.

    Forecast issued at 1040hrs Friday 14-Jun-2024
    Valid to 1 pm Friday for Manukau and Waitemata Harbours, Hauraki Gulf and Bream Head to Cape Colville.

    For Manukau Harbour:
    Friday: Northeast 15 knots. Turning northwest 10 knots in the afternoon and rising to southwest 20 knots gusting 30 knots late evening. Sea becoming moderate late evening. Poor visibility in rain with possible thunderstorms, easing to a few showers in the evening. Southwest swell 1.5 metres, rising to 2.5 metres.
    Saturday: Southwest 20 knots gusting 30 knots, becoming northwest 15 knots late morning. Moderate sea easing. Partly cloudy, a few showers. Westerly swell 2.5 to 3 metres.
    Sunday: Northwest 15 knots, becoming northerly 10 knots early. Partly cloudy, rain developing later. Southwest swell 3 metres easing to 2 metres.
    Monday: Northeast 15 knots, changing westerly 10 knots early. Easing to variable 5 knots later. Showers, clearing. Westerly swell 2 metres, easing to 1.5 metres.
    Tuesday: Variable 5 knots, becoming easterly 15 knots early. Occasional rain developing. Westerly swell 1.5 metres, easing to 1 metre.

    For Waitemata Harbour:
    Friday: Northeast 15 knots, turning northwest 10 knots everywhere in the afternoon and rising to southwest 20 knots gusting 30 knots late evening. Sea becoming moderate late evening. Poor visibility in rain with possible thunderstorms, easing to a few showers in the evening.
    Saturday: Southwest 20 knots gusting 30 knots, turning northwest 10 knots in the morning. Moderate sea easing. Partly cloudy, the odd shower.
    Sunday: Northerly 10 knots. Fine, rain developing later.
    Monday: Northerly 15 knots, becoming westerly 10 knots early. Easing to variable 5 knots later. Showers, clearing.
    Tuesday: Easterly 10 knots, rising to 20 knots early. Occasional rain developing.

    For Hauraki Gulf:
    Friday: Northeast 25 knots gusting 35 knots becoming northwest 15 knots this afternoon, then becoming southwest 25 knots gusting 35 knots this evening. Southwest easing to 20 knots overnight. Sea rough at times. Poor visibility in rain with possible thunderstorms, easing to a few showers in the evening. Northerly swell 1 metre.
    Saturday: Southwest 20 knots, turning northwest 15 knots in the morning. Moderate sea easing in the morning. Partly cloudy, with the odd shower. Northerly swell 1 metre, easing to half a metre.
    Sunday: Northwest 15 knots, becoming northeast 15 knots in the afternoon. Rain developing. Northerly swell half a metre.
    Monday: Northerly 15 knots, becoming westerly 10 knots early. Easing to variable 5 knots late. Showers, clearing. Northerly swell half a metre, rising to 1 metre.
    Tuesday: Easterly 15 knots developing early, rising to 25 knots later. Occasional rain developing. Northerly swell 1 metre, easing to half a metre.

    For Bream Head to Cape Colville:
    Friday: Northeast 25 knots gusting 35 knots, changing northwest 15 knots in the afternoon, then rising to southwest 25 knots gusting 35 knots in the evening. Southwest easing to 20 knots overnight. Sea rough at times. Poor visibility in rain with possible thunderstorms, easing to a few showers in the evening. Northeast swell 1.5 metres, rising to 2 metres for a time.
    Saturday: Southwest 20 knots turning northwest 15 knots in the morning. Rising to northwest 20 knots about Colville Channel for a time in the evening. Moderate sea easing in the morning, then becoming moderate about Colville Channel for a time in the evening. Partly cloudy, with the odd shower. Northeast swell 1.5 metres, easing to half to 1 metre.
    Sunday: Northwest 15 knots, rising to northerly 20 knots in the evening. Occasional rain developing. Northerly swell half to 1 metre.
    Monday: Northerly 20 knots, becoming westerly 15 knots early, turning easterly 10 knots later. Showers, clearing. Northerly swell 1 metre.
    Tuesday: Easterly 15 knots. Occasional rain developing. Northerly swell 1 metre.
