    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 2030hrs Friday 17-May-2024 by MetService

    Situation:
    A front moves onto the far south today, while a ridge of high pressure develops elsewhere over Aotearoa/New Zealand. The front moves slowly north across the South Island during Saturday and Sunday, weakening away on Monday while the ridge remains elsewhere. On Tuesday, a low in the Tasman Sea extends a front across the upper North Island.

    Valid to 8 pm Friday for Manukau and Waitemata Harbours, Hauraki Gulf and Bream Head to Cape Colville.

    For Manukau Harbour:
    Friday: Variable 5 knots. Sea smooth. Partly cloudy. Southwest swell 2.5 metres, rising to 3 metres.
    Saturday: Variable 5 knots. Southwest 10 knots developing for a time in the afternoon. Sea slight. Mainly fine. Southwest swell 3 metres, easing to 2.5 metres.
    Sunday: Southeast 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots in the afternoon. Fine. Southwest swell 2.5 metres.
    Monday: Variable 5 knots, becoming easterly 10 knots later. Fine, but becoming cloudy. Southwest swell 2.5 metres, easing to 2 metres.
    Tuesday: Easterly 15 knots, rising to 20 knots later. Rain developing. Southwest swell 2 metres, easing to 1.5 metres.

    For Waitemata Harbour:
    Friday: Variable 5 knots. Sea smooth. Partly cloudy.
    Saturday: Variable 5 knots. Sea smooth. Fine.
    Sunday: Southeast 10 knots. Fine.
    Monday: Southeast 10 knots. Fine, but becoming cloudy.
    Tuesday: Easterly 10 knots, rising to 20 knots later. Rain developing.

    For Hauraki Gulf:
    Friday: Variable 5 knots. Sea smooth. Partly cloudy. Northeast swell half a metre.
    Saturday: Variable 5 knots. Southerly 10 knots developing for a time in the morning and afternoon. Sea slight. Fine. Northeast swell half a metre.
    Sunday: Southeast 10 knots. Fine. Northeast swell half a metre.
    Monday: Southeast 10 knots, rising to easterly 15 knots late. Fine. Northeast swell half a metre.
    Tuesday: Easterly 15 knots, rising to 25 knots early. Cloudy, rain developing. Northeast swell rising to 1 metre.

    For Bream Head to Cape Colville:
    Friday: Southerly 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots this evening. Sea slight. Mainly fine. Northeast swell half a metre, rising to 1 metre.
    Saturday: Variable 5 knots. Southerly 10 knots developing this morning, turning southeast 10 knots early afternoon, easing to variable 5 knots in the evening. Sea slight. Partly cloudy. Chance of a late shower about Great Barrier Island. Northeast swell 1 metre.
    Sunday: Southeast 10 knots. Fine. Northeast swell 1 metre.
    Monday: Easterly 15 knots. Fine, but becoming cloudy. Northeast swell 1 metre.
    Tuesday: Easterly 15 knots, rising to northeast 25 knots early. Cloudy, rain developing. Northeast swell 1 metre, rising to 1.5 metres for a time.
